Sympathy Card

Another quick card to mail before the post closes.

I don't have a die cutter.  I have had a stamp made which I stamp in various colours and then cut into shape to make the label.  Ribbon is from a street market in Mumbai. So happy to see pearls coming in sticky rows now.  Makes lining them up on cards so much easier.

Have a great weekend folks !

Typewritter Card

Here's a quick guy card I made for a young family member.

Reminiscent of my days back in the early 70s when we used typewriters.  I found this stamp in a tray with assorted, mounted stamps at "Artists" in Chicago.  I used metallic pencils to fill in the light brown colour and with a fibre tip pen touched up the "keys".  The tiny sticker hearts are actually bordered in gold but doesn't show in the photo.  Background paper from my stash.

Thanks for visiting.

Four Cards & a Bookmark

Good evening from very warm Mumbai !

In the past few days I made 3 birthday cards and some other stuff as well.  Thanks a bunch to Tina from England for the package containing lots of pre-stamped & embossed images, labels and punch cuts.  I used a few of her gift offerings to make the cards below.  They are very simple and not at all like the fabulous cards you girls make but all the same, it is what I worked at recently and wanted to share.

The cardstock and base design paper is from my stock as also the lace, ribbons, flowers and gem embellishments.

This is my first ever House Mouse (should it be "Mice"?) card and also first time using dimensions.  I created this for an English lady.  On the inside I made two pockets with stiff, mauve and white gingham paper.  Into these pockets went two tea sachets and I forgot to photograph the inside.
I was a bit stingy in using all the images of this set, sent by Tina, and so some went into the card below.

This is for a young man who works very hard and travels a lot on the job.

The central image is actually taken from the sample paper of the "For your Man' set by Papermania.  Why waste it...it looks cute ?!
My second time using dimensions.
The "Relax" stamp is a gift sent by a friend from the United States.

the inside of the card...... I hand wrote the sentiment.

and this one is for a lady in the U.S. who simply adores cats !

The card below was made for Shawn's birthday last month and the bookmark as well.

No stamp was used.  I sponged in the yellow and peach water colours and later drew the spider and webs with a black microtip pen.  Saw this image somewhere on the net but can't remember exactly where.

It's been a long but rewarding journey for Shawn - from Mumbai to Chicago !

Simone's birthday

Today is our daughter's birthday.  I made this card and bookmark for her to enclose with the Tailoring Book we sent her as a gift.  Simone lives in the UK.  A few months ago she expressed a wish to learn tailoring.  As a little girl, she would often sit at one end of my sewing machine - the kind that has a wooden extension you can pull up for laying out fabric to cut.  I was delighted to know she wanted my old notes and I made her a Tailoring Journal.  At that time, my blog did not exist and I just did not think to take a photo of the journal.  Now I wish I had.

The paper and label are from Papermania UK.  I sketched the perfume bottle
and wrote out the Coco Chanel quote.

the inside of the card - image also from Papermania

Simone is beautiful and classy.  She loves to dress and was always good at designing clothes even when she was very young.  This is a recent photo of her.

Happy Birthday Simone !

Christmas Window Cards

I am happy to say we get lovely handmade paper here in Mumbai.  The ones I've used below look and even feel like fabric.  They are also easy to craft with.

Here are three "Christmas Window" cards I made using the handmade paper for curtains.
Green rickrack and red lace ribbon add a festive touch.

I drew and painted the snow scene.

This one and the other below are old Christmas pics I'd kept aside
only because they are so pretty to look at.

I have this obsession with windows (and doors with creepers over the top).

Some of my old cards

These are not-so-good pics of some cards I made in the past (and thought to take photos).

Two First Holy Communion cards for a boy and a girl.

Origami shirt birthday card

Satin, lace and glitter for a dear old friend who loves the colour pink

Wanted this to be "rich" as it was for a friend who is a crafter.

and this one for Shawn's friend's wife.  The couple now have a baby boy.

Card-making-magic

Today's post is dedicated to my friend and very talented crafter, Christina Griffiths from the U.K. who has been motivating us by sharing her work.

Christina, thank you very much for your patience and your encouragement in getting some of my work featured on your website not so very long ago.

Ladies, she has an amazing website called Card-making-Magic that is full of valuable content on crafting, with video tutorials and tips to help you make stunning cards.  I really admire her for many reasons, not the least of which is how she is always coming up with new ways to use the supplies most crafters already own.  Check out her great techniques here.  There's an entire section for beginners too !

Be sure to visit her blog too.  The latest is the prettiest little gift boxes you will just die to make !
